Major survey on innovation in Quebec businesses 2024

In 2024, the Quebec Innovation Council unveiled the results of the Major Survey on Innovation in Quebec. Between 2022 and 2024, the proportion of businesses that undertook at least one innovation project jumped by 18 percentage points, now reaching 69%. This increase puts Quebec on par with Ontario (69%) and British Columbia (65%). Quebec businesses stand out in particular for improving their commercial offerings: 41% have developed or significantly improved new products or services, surpassing Ontario (35%) and British Columbia (39%). 

The survey also highlights the crucial impact of innovation on economic growth. Innovative companies in Quebec are 2.6 times more likely to increase their revenue, and their export forecasts outside Quebec are 2.4 times higher. In addition, adopting best practices in innovation management increases the likelihood of generating innovative projects by at least 47%. These results confirm that innovation is a major strategic lever for the growth, competitiveness, and productivity of Quebec businesses.
