Strengthening innovation through scientific entrepreneurship
Scientific entrepreneurship is an essential lever for transforming research into concrete and sustainable innovations. The release of the report “Stimulating Scientific Entrepreneurship in Quebec Universities,” produced by a group of researchers led by Professor Sophie Veilleux of Laval University, sheds light on the dynamics at work in our higher education institutions.
The result of a mandate entrusted by the Table de concertation en entrepreneuriat scientifique (Scientific Entrepreneurship Roundtable), this study, conducted among 114 university stakeholders from 16 Quebec universities, highlights the motivations, obstacles, and levers that influence the research community’s ability to engage in entrepreneurial endeavors.
Beyond the findings, this report offers a structured reflection: how can scientific entrepreneurship be made a natural avenue for public research to have an impact?
For Axelys, this question is at the heart of valorization: stimulating entrepreneurial curiosity, equipping the next generation, and creating an environment where researchers can transform their discoveries into businesses, technologies, or concrete solutions for society.
By supporting research and knowledge mobilization, we are laying the foundations for a more inclusive, bold, and sustainable innovation ecosystem.
