Technology Maturation Program – PSOv2d
Are you a researcher affiliated with a public research institution in Quebec who wants to further develop or validate a technology to pave the way for its commercialization or adoption?
The Support Program for Research and Innovation Organizations (PSO), Component 2d, from the Quebec Ministry of Economic Development, Innovation, and Energy, is for you! It aims to support the maturation and validation of your technology to accelerate its transfer and commercialization, in partnership with a company or a user community.
Financial assistance can cover up to 80% of the project’s eligible expenses:
– For technology maturation projects, the maximum is $475,000 (including FIR).
– For technology validation projects, the maximum is $75,000 (before FIR).
To help you plan for the upcoming PSOv2d funding rounds, we’re sharing an updated timeline outlining the key steps to follow when submitting a funding application:

Properly positioning your innovation along its valorization pathway.
Any valorization pathway aiming for concrete benefits for Québec’s economy and society requires a longer-term perspective on the project.
In this context, Axelys offers various valorization services that can be requested at any time. The decision to use them remains the prerogative of each institution, based on its institutional priorities and its technological innovation portfolio.
Should the institution wish to receive support to better position its innovation, a Valorization Potential Assessment (VPA) service can be provided by Axelys. This VPA is based in particular on a multidimensional approach to innovation readiness (IRL) and incorporates a reflection on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Are you considering submitting a project to the PSOv2d program?
Once an invention disclosure (ID) has been filed with your institution, steps to clarify intellectual property ownership have been initiated, and initial discussions with your technology transfer office/Axelys regional office have highlighted valorization potential, your institution is invited to inform Axelys at innovation@axelys.ca.
To this end, Axelys provides a letter of intent template that gathers all the information required to carry out an initial analysis of the project.
The letter of intent will facilitate and optimize the first exchange with the Axelys project manager assigned to you.
Upon receipt of this information, your project manager will follow up on your letter of intent within 10 business days.
The analysis of the documents submitted will, where applicable, lead to a service proposal being sent to the institution, describing the support Axelys will provide in preparing your funding application.
If the information and documents submitted do not sufficiently demonstrate the project’s alignment and consistency with the objectives and expectations of the PSOv2d program, or if the request for Axelys support comes too late, your funding application may not be considered in the evaluation process. In this case, Axelys will plan support with the institution to improve the funding application, with a view to submitting it in a future evaluation round.
