A $38 million investment to boost the impact of public research in Quebec
The Government of Quebec has confirmed, by decree, $38 million in financial support over three years for Axelys to accelerate the commercialization of public research and strengthen the protection of Quebec’s intellectual property. This amount, which combines the renewal of Axelys’ operating agreement with additional funding, aligns with the 2026–2027 budget’s priorities, which position public research as a driver of economic competitiveness.
This funding will enable Axelys to:
- Accelerate the transfer of innovations stemming from public research;
- Strengthen the protection and strategic management of Quebec’s intellectual property;
- Support the creation and growth of innovative companies;
- Promote the adoption of innovations by businesses and end-users;
- Maximize the economic and social benefits of public research.
This announcement is part of a total government investment of $288 million to support public research and innovation, including more than $250 million allocated to the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ) for 2026–2027.
