Appwapp and Axelys Launch PotentiaLab

Quebec’s public research sector is brimming with ideas that can improve lives. Yet, all too often, a gap still separates a laboratory discovery from its practical application. At Axelys, helping to bridge the gap between innovations stemming from public research and their real-world applications is at the heart of our mission.

With this in mind, Axelys is collaborating with Appwapp—the platform’s creator and technology partner—to launch PotentiaLab.

Specifically, PotentiaLab brings together scientifically validated tools (tests, assessment protocols, and specialized applications) from various universities and research teams on a single digital platform to facilitate access for clinicians and their use in clinical practice.

What You’ll Find There

PotentiaLab already brings together several recognized resources in the field of cognitive health. The Montreal Communication Assessment Protocol, in particular, helps clinicians better identify language disorders. The platform also offers programs designed for family caregivers—who are often on the front lines caring for a vulnerable family member—to provide them with resources tailored to their specific circumstances. Specialized applications, such as i-MEL, i-MEC, and COMPAs+, round out this offering.

A Model That Helps Support Research

PotentiaLab’s model is designed to promote the commercialization of intellectual property resulting from public research. Appwapp handles the marketing of licenses to professionals, while Axelys manages the revenue generated from the exploitation of intellectual property, in accordance with applicable agreements.

A platform poised for growth

PotentiaLab was designed to evolve and expand over time. Clinical tools are just the first step; the platform will gradually incorporate new resources from public research, including scientific articles and books.
